If you've lived in Middletown for three years or more but have never owned a home, we have good news for you. You may be eligible for a special program from the City of Middletown that's designed to help city residents buy homes of their own. It's called the Middletown Down Payment Assistance program, and it's administered by Liberty Bank.
First-time buyers often find that the biggest obstacle to buying a home is saving for a down payment and closing costs. The Middletown Down Payment Assistance program was created to remove that stumbling block. If you qualify, you could receive a loan of up to $10,000 toward your down payment, with no payments due for five years. You could also receive a grant of up to $3,000 for closing costs. In order to qualify you must fit the following criteria:
- You have lived in Middletown for the past three years.
- You must be a first-time home buyer.
- Your income can't exceed a certain limit, since the program is for individuals and families of low or moderate income.
- You will need to qualify for a first mortgage for the home you want to buy.
- The home you want to buy is located in Middletown.
- The home you want to buy will be your primary residence and will not be an investment property.
