On August 25, 2005, the Federal Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) voted to close three US Army reserve centers in Connecticut that included the US Army Reserve Center Maintenance Support Facility in Middletown.

The property to be closed is located at 499 Mile Lane and is described by the US Department of Defense as approximately 23.7 acres and contains 1 building, totaling 14,352 square feet.

The City of Middletown has designated a committee as the local redevelopment authority to conduct outreach and develop a plan for future use. Once the plan is approved the US Department of Defense has until September 15, 2011 to close the base and transfer the property.

From June 1, 2006 to September 1, 2006 the City of Middletown will be accepting Letters of Interests from eligible non-profits. Click here for more information.
